Praying Mantis

I was walking to the kitchen Friday night and happened to look at the window in the dining room and saw this little guy on the screen. It was dark outside but if you look really closely, you can see it is a praying mantis.

M-Squad Clinic

Every year, the Clinton Maroons M-Squad (cheerleading squad) has a mini-clinic for K-6th grade girls. They learn a dance, get a t-shirt and get to perform at half-time during the first home game. This is Emily's second year and last year she did great. This year it was raining ALL day so they decided to have the girls perform in the school gym rather than having them go out onto the muddy football field.

The practice before the performance was great but then Emily decided that she didn't want to perform with the girls during half-time stating that "she had never seen them do the dance" and wanted to watch instead. Oh well, I got some pics of the practice anyway!

This one is kinda grainy.

Lauren & Autumn's mom said that Emily MUST have sparklies in her hair! What kind of mother am I that I didn't even think of it! :)

HMMMMM.....

Well, I've managed to jack up my blog layout! Going to bed now, maybe a new day will help.

EDIT: Well it didn't turn out to be as bad as first expected.

Lunch-September 5

Yesterday's lunch got out the door without a photo session but I am pleased to announce that it too was enjoyed and eaten completely.

Feeling that there must be more to a 1st grader's lunch than peanut butter and pudding, I went again to the internet for inspiration. I got this egg idea from my Freecycle friend Erin. Emily loves boiled eggs but not the yolk. On the side she had 2 slices of turkey bacon, sliced apple soaked in diet Sierra Mist (to prevent browning) and 2 graham cracker and strawberry icing sandwiches. I couldn't believe it, but she ate all but one bite of a graham cracker and one bite of turkey bacon. WOOHOO!

Lunch-September 3

Yesterday the hot lunch was corn dogs so Emily chose to eat that. She didn't come home starving so I guess it went ok.

Today, since the heart shaped sammy was so popular, we went for another shape-A STAR! It was accompanied by more starfish/goldfish crackers, grapes and chocolate pudding. I am happy to report that the sandwich was eaten in it's entirety in the school cafeteria as was the entire meal! YEA EMILY!!!!
